ABOUT TUULA
Her choice to ride a dirt bike led to a fascination with cars and motorcycles at an early age, and she has ridden ever since.
After regularly teaching friends to ride at their request, someone suggested she teach for a living and the rest is history. She began her instruction under the legendary Evan Arkush at Monkey Moto School in San Francisco - who remains one of her closest friends and riding buddies. Teaching others to ride led to a great opportunity for her to go back to school and fully immerse herself in the world of transportation. She graduated with an Associates Degree from City College in Automotive Technology. During this period, she restored two older manual cars, (’74 Corvette and ’70 Firebird, for those curious car nerds!), while concurrently enrolling in motorcycle mechanical maintenance classes.
In the almost a decade since she has been teaching, she has developed a thorough understanding of the common pitfalls that first plague the beginner rider, and prides herself in immediately spotting any improper techniques and persistent bad habits that prevent experienced riders from developing quick and efficient cornering skills.
She has a few hundred thousand moto miles under her belt, done track days, learned to wheelie, ridden motorcycles on foreign continents for weeks on end, crashed, learned from her mistakes and gotten back up, and ridden some more.
She enjoys riding a variety of motorcycles - currently there’s a Triumph Daytona, a Harley, a vintage two-stroke cafe racer and a dirt bike in her stable.
In her spare time, she enjoys botany and herbalism, gardening, hiking with her two dogs as far out as one can get in nature, rock and roll shows, and a nice tequila, preferably not silver. No lime/salt.
